Delete your defry account
This page deletes your account for defry, the Android app by WhaleyBear Ltd. You do not need the app.
It happens at once and cannot be undone.
How to delete
- Sign in with the same Google account, or the same email address and password, that you use in defry.
- Choose whether to also delete your bug reports (see below). The box is not ticked unless you tick it.
- Press Delete my account.
Your account and its data on our servers are deleted straight away. If defry is still on your phone, uninstall it to remove what it keeps there; deleting in the app instead also wipes the phone.
If you only used an access code
If you started using defry with an access code and never signed up, there is nothing to sign in with here. You can:
- delete your account in the app: Settings, Delete my account; or
- email privacy@defry.ai from any address, with the code you used. If the code was made for you alone, we can find your account from it and delete it within 30 days. If the code was shared by several people, we cannot tell which account was yours: please delete in the app, or write to us and we will work it out with you.
Asking by email
You can also ask for your account and data to be deleted by emailing privacy@defry.ai. We will confirm it is you, then delete within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
What is deleted
Everything defry keeps about you on its servers: your rules and their history, your conversations, your profile and places, what happened on your phone and the judge's decisions about it, your research record if you turned it on, your proof photos, your access and your sign-in. Our database and our file store can still recover deleted data for 7 days, so it is fully gone 7 days later. Google, which runs our sign-in, removes your sign-in from its own systems within 180 days.
What is kept, and for how long
- Spend records. What your use of defry cost us, per day and month, is kept so we know what defry costs to run. Your account id in it is replaced with a random id, so it can no longer be linked to you. It holds no words.
- Bug reports, unless you tick "Also delete bug reports". They are kept so we can still fix what you told us about, and deleted within 12 months. Their screenshots and logs go 90 days after you sent them in any case.
- Spending alarms. If your use ever hit one of our spending limits, the alarm record stays for up to 12 months, with your account id taken out of it.
- Access codes. If we gave you a code, our record of the code stays, with a short note of who it was for (a first name). Ask us and we delete the note.
- Copies at our AI providers follow their terms: Anthropic deletes within 30 days (longer only if flagged or required by law). TypeSafe, which runs the judge, keeps data for no fixed period; we will ask them to delete it if you ask us.
